i was skimming through the community I started in orkut called beatnik. One guy posted a topic asking what is a beatnik today? and there were some great replies:
Being a beat in the world today means being strong enough to figure out who you are and stand up for what you believe is right while working to rid the world of injustices, however it is that you work to that end... be it writing, singing, protesting or meditation, just don't hide in the dark and nurse your insecurities to the point that they become the chains that hold you immobile.
